Marlin Yoder & Daryn Cockram

Marlin Yoder & Daryn Cockram

Yewwweee! Episode 49 is on the scene and we welcome the latest winner in the GXS Street Stock Series Marlin Yoder to the podcast. From humble beginnings on Amish Farms in Wisconsin, Yoder had to obtain a small AM/FM radio to listen NASCAR races in secret as this type of contraband was not allowed on the Amish Farm he lived on. At the age of 17, he left the farm and his family with nothing but the clothes on his back to enjoy a different type of lifestyle. Yoder eventually got to watch his first NASCAR race and that led to his first race in person at Wisconsin Dells where his passion for the sport was ignited. The hard work and limited resources from his Amish days led him to eventually working for Hendrick Motorsports serving on Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Larson's crew. While working in NASCAR country, he was able to get a street stock put together and that has led him to his current racing career at Tri County Speedway where he is leading the points. He also discusses how big his win was at Orange County in the GXS Street Stock Series and what he hopes the series will turn into.

Daryn Cockram is no stranger to Pulaski County Motorsports Park victory lane. The veteran driver has had to overcome a vicious crash earlier this season in the Collision Plus Sportsman Division that sidelined him for a while. Cockram was recently cleared to return to racing and ended up winning this past weekend in both of the twin events at the track. Cockram tells about his recovery and how hard it was not being at the track. We reflect on his start in Mini Stocks at Franklin County Speedway and how his family involved in racing which is ever growing. We also discuss the news about Pulaski County Motorsports Park and the impact the potential closing will have locally and what racers and tracks could better improve on to help promote the tracks and the race cars.

The boys discuss Michael McDowell's win at Indy and how much of an impact it made on the playoff bubble. The guys also give their picks for Watkins Glen and more analysis from the weekend!

Bowman Gray Stadium wraps up their season and the points battles in several divisions are very close. The boys break down the championship scenarios. Big thanks to Justin Mincey for providing the break downs for us.

The Solid Rock Carriers Cars Tour is fresh off their latest event at Ace Speedway which saw Carson Kvapil return to victory lane. They discuss Kvapil's return to victory lane and preview this weekend's Old North State Nationals from Tri County.

All of this and more this week on DLN!
