The Revitalization of Lonesome Pine Raceway with Joey Owens
Episode 173 is on the scene to discuss the revitalization of Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn Virginia. In order to do that, we welcome the promoter of the speedway and short track racer in his own right, Joey Owens to the show. We discuss what led him to taking on this project, what all needs to be done before opening day in April, and so much more.
We give our thoughts on the World Series of Asphalt so far at New Smyrna and give our thoughts about Justin Bonsignore's first win at the track in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday in their opener for 2026.
The IceBreaker was held at Florence Motor Speedway on Saturday in South Carolina. Keelan Harvick won his first ever Late Model Stock event in fairly convincing fashion. What does this mean going forward for the young man's career? We also discuss the post race tech inspection gone wrong from Lee Pulliam after it was discovered the Track Arm was not up to spec and the response given by Hedgecock Racing Enterprises as well as some of the other stories headed out of Florence for the first major Late Model Stock event of 2026 is in the books.
This week is a big week of racing as we discuss not only the ASA STARS National Tour opener on Tuesday but who races their way into the Daytona 500, who takes home the trophy in Friday's Truck Series Opener, Saturday's Doubleheader ARCA Menards Series and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Season Openers and of course the grandaddy of them all, the Daytona 500 on Sunday!
All this and more this week!
